Key to aquatic Winged Adults

 
Order Coleoptera (adults) - Forewings form a hard covering over all or most of the abdomen (Fig. 1). Wings meet along a straight line. Mouthparts are of the chewing type.

Order Hemiptera (adults) - Forewings are hardened anteriorly but with membranous portion posterior. Posterior portion of wings usually folded one over the other (Fig 2). Mouthparts forms a beak for piercing and sucking (Fig. 3).
