Key to Corixidae adults Males. This key covers adults of 6 Genera of the Corixidae that have been collected throughout North Dakota rivers and streams. This key is helpful by providing simple features you can look for to identify your specimen. After using the key, confirm the identity of your specimen by reading the Genus page. This key does not work for female specimens!! Males can be recognized by examining the ventral abdominal segments, males have an asymmetric abdomen, females have a symmetric abdomen.

Genus Trichocorixa - Strigil located on left side (Fig. 5). Tips of the clavi do not extend beyond a line drawn through the nodal furrows (Fig. 6). The pala has a distinct separation that appears as a thumb-like structure (Fig. 7). Full body picture of Trichorcorixa (Fig. 8).
