Dr Andre DeLorme - Associate Professor of Biology

Dr. Andre DeLorme earned his Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Minnesota. His research interests involve sampling macroinvertebrates in rivers and streams. Specifically, he interested in documenting the taxa found in northern prairie rivers. Such information can be used to examine biomonitoring of the river, document life history information for specific taxa, and examine population dynamics of specific taxa. A major focus of his work is the involvement of undergraduate students. As a teaching professor he feels that field research is an important part of an undergraduate biology majorís training.

Mike Duchscher

Mike is a 2005 graduate of VCSU, originally from Rugby, ND. He majored in Biology. In the lab his roles included sampling, picking, researching and photographing aquatic insects. He was responsible for the genera pages and genera keys of the Hemiptera, Lepidoptera, Megaloptera, and Neuroptera.

Brad Hohnadel

Brad was an Art and Biology Education major originally from Casselton, ND. He worked in the lab for four years where his responsibilities included the genus pages and genus keys for Dipera, Ephemeroptera, Odonata, and Plecoptera as well as editing content in other pages. In addition to lab work, Brad helped out on several field expeditions, helped revise the web site into its current form, and began work on a new site for non-insect macroinvertebrates. Brad graduated from VCSU in May 2005.

Matthew Axtman

Matt is currently attending VCSU, for Biology Education and B.S. of Chemistry. He is originally from Crosby, ND. In the lab his roles consisted of sampling, picking, researching and photographing freshwater invertebrates. He was responsible for some of the Gastropoda-Lymnaeidae key, Unionoida key, penny pictures, and the "Main Key."

Ryan Lorenz - Student Lab Assistant

Ryan is currently attending VCSU, majoring in Health Science. He is originally from Valley City, ND. His roles in the lab were sampling, picking, researching, and photographing freshwater invertebrates. His contributions were the Branchiopoda key and penny pictures.

Troy Worm

Troy has graduated from VCSU with a B.S. in Biology in 2005. He is originally from Jamestown, ND. His roles at the lab were picking, sampling, researching, and photographing freshwater invertebrates. His contributions were on the Ostrocoda pages, Nematamorpha pages, and penny pictures.

Rachel Stack - Student Lab Assistant

Rachel is currently attending VCSU, she is majoring in B.S. of Biology and B.S. of Chemistry. She is originally from Valley City, ND. Her roles in the lab were sampling, picking, researching, and photographing. Her main contribution was the Pisidiidae key and penny pictures.

Brian Wieland - Student Lab Assistant

Brian is currently attending VCSU, majoring in Health Science. He is originally from Dazey, ND. His roles in the lab were picking, research, sampling and photographing freshwater invertebrates. His main contributions were the Maxillipoda key and penny pictures.

Joseph Munowenyu - Computer Programmer

Joseph is a graduate of Valley City State University (BS degree in Computer Information Systems, minor in Computer Science), and of the University Of Zimbabwe (Bsc Animal Science Honors).

Joseph was the programmer who helped in the revision of this site to its current form.

Ruth Henriksen

Ruth graduated from the University Minnesota Duluth in 2002 with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Limnology. She helped with the terms page, coleoptera pictures, and worked on proofreading the key. She is originally from Wadena, Minnesota and now lives in Valley City.

Don Kenna

Don Kenna graduated from VCSU in 2003 and is currently teaching biology and physics at Shanley High School. Don contributed to the Coleoptera family and genus pages, he also helped in collecting and picking samples.

Mark Fabian

In the fall of 2004 Mark returned to school to get his degree. He student taught at Fargo South High School and graduated in December. For the remainder of the school year Mark was a substitute teacher in the Fargo Public School system. This past summer he took a job at Lake of the Woods high school in Baudette, Minnesota, where he teaches 7th grade Life Science and 10th grade Biology. Mark was responsible for the Trichoptera genus keys and pages, and also helped in the collecting and picking of samples.

Louis Wieland - Lab Manager

Louis is a graduate of VCSU, he is currently the Lab Manager for the VCSU Macroinvertebrate Lab. Most of the original Family pages and keys on the Aquatic Insects Site were done by Louis as well as some of the sampling and picking.
